Renewable energy from solid biomass in Italy
The EBS Association was created with the aim of promoting the sector of electricity production from solid biomass
About us
Company Profile
The Solid Biomass Energy Association (EBS) was created by the will of the main producers of electricity from solid biomass. It brings together 13 operators who, with their 16 plants located throughout the national territory, represent the majority of electricity production from solid biomass in Italy. The installed electrical power is approximately 250 MWe, with an annual production of over 1500 GWh, generated almost entirely with biomass produced in Italy.

How and why
The sector of electricity production from solid biomass in our country makes a total installed power of approximately 780 MW for a production of over 4,100 GWh (GSE, 2019 data). Among the renewable energy sources it is the only one able to guarantee regularity and continuity of operation for over 8,000 hours a year, with constant and programmable production. Clean energy generated with solid biomass, unlike other renewables such as wind or photovoltaics, does not depend on climatic and environmental factors.
